Weatherbys project success

Weatherbys project success

6th June 2016

We have been very busy lately working on an extensive new database for Weatherbys. Designed and developed by Brian and the Eclipse team, the new Bloodstock System will streamline many of the processes involved in researching sales catalogue pedigrees, race results reporting and the huge variety of print and online services provided by Weatherbys to their clients.

Continuously in business since the late 1700's, Weatherbys is famous for its registration of British and Irish thoroughbred births for nearly three centuries, with copies of the General Stud Book dating back hundreds of years on show at the premises, along with many other items of royal and racing memorabilia.

Although there is more work to do, the first elements were rolled out for live use this month and have met with widespread approval by bloodstock team members. Mike Butts, Head of Bloodstock Services, said "We are delighted with progress on the new system so far. Even at this stage, we can see it's going to help us improve the timeliness, depth and rapid accessibility of the information we are able to provide to our clients."

Eclipse were delighted to sponsor two of the five case study sessions which formed an integral part of the this year's Rossdales Foal Care Course.

In a new departure, attendees were divided into five smaller groups for interactive sessions at the Rossdales Equine Hospital led by renowned specialists Gary Magdesian (Critical care for sepsis), Peter Morresey (Managing the foal with colic), Celia Marr (Imaging cases), Emily Haggett & Imogen Comyn (Managing the 'dummy' foal), and Ian Cameron & Oliver Pynn (Assessment and management of foal limb deformities).

Course arranger, Whorl Publishing's MD Jenny Ricketts said, "Thank you very much for your help and sponsorship of the session at Rossdales Equine Hospital last week - everything went off quite smoothly – and from the feedback we received the delegates really enjoyed the smaller discussion groups."

The only way is Essex

The only way is Essex

2nd September 2015

Several mixed/equine practices based in Essex are installing Eclipse this autumn, including Blaircourt, and House and Jackson.

"I must admit it's a nice change to be working locally and not travelling quite so far to our newest customers" said Managing Director, Jeanne Razzell. "In the last 18 months, we first had the Dutch installation and then new installations in Ireland, all the while continuing to work with our non-veterinary, thoroughbred-related clients such as Tattersall and Weatherbys."

However, the shorter journey times may not last long with new enquiries arriving from all points within the UK and Ireland. "I've no doubt we'll be back on the road/standing in line at Stansted again very soon"

New Project Underway for Weatherbys

New Project Underway for Weatherbys

6th February 2015

Brian has been very busy lately working on a major new project for Weatherbys. When complete, the new Bloodstock Information System will streamline much of the complex processes involved in publishing catalogue pedigrees, results reporting and online services provided to Weatherbys clients.

Continuously in business since 1770, Weatherbys is famous for its accurate registration of British and Irish thoroughbred births throughout the centuries, with copies of the General Stud Book dating back hundreds of years on show, along with many other items of royal and racing memorabilia.

The project will take more than a year to complete from conception through to design and development, but will greatly enhance the quality and expand the range of services available to clients of Weatherbys bloodstock division.
